Frankel: A horse born to win
It was not surprising for any of the regular horseracing viewer when Frankel lifted the ace title of the Queen Anne Stakes during the gorgeous Royal Ascot event on June 19, 2012, but it set such a solid record that none of the contemporary horses is likely to break in the near future.
Unbelievably but interestingly, the Sir Henry Cecil-trained bay colt added 11th straight success to his glorious career chart last week. More interesting was the face that the four-year-old maverick sprinter gained 11th consecutive favourite tag.
What a marvellous track record this is. Since starting his career in August 2010, the confident colt has never gone even a step down from the podium. It seems that he is born to win.
Eleven victories of eleven starts including four Royal Ascot titles is the record that distinguishes Frankel from the other runners.
Having the blood of his Sire, Galileo, and Dam, Kind, in his veins, the young and energetic colt has proved his excellent class on different tracks like Newmarket, Doncaster, Newbury, Goodwood and Ascot---the last one poses to be the favourite playfield for the colt.
Since the very first day of his career, the K. Abdulla-owned runner has been a favourite and winner undisputedly. None of his competitors has ever dared to challenge him on any occasion. The race he participates is quite predictable and, in fact, one-sided.
Frank first accomplished the ace Royal Ascot honour on September 25, 2010. This was Juddmonte Royal Lodge Stakes. He moved ahead to thrive in the high-profile event again on June 14, 2011. This time, he won St Jame’s Palace Stakes.
Frankel’s third Royal Ascot victory came on October 15, 2011 when he notched up top spot in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes.
And finally, he showed his guts in the Queen Anne Stakes a few days back. This was a tough competition indeed as the victor had to wrest success from the jaws of the 10 strong rivals.
Since the very first day of his racing career, Frankel has been running and winning under Tom Queally who does not need to apply enough effort while driving the skilled colt towards finish lines as the runner knows well the fact that he is destined to win only.
With the last Royal Ascot title, Frankel has achieved top spot in the ranking of the Timeform, a Halifax-based publishing company founded in 1948 to collect and disseminate all the information regarding horseracing.
David Johnson, the company’s top editor, proudly says, “The facts are that Frankel’s Performance is likely to surpass anything witnessed in Timeform’s 64-year history”.
Thus, being the top-ranked horse of all time is indeed an extra-ordinary achievement. A big part of this credit goes to Cecil who has trained the talented colt in such a way that he does even know the word ‘failure’.
Frankel’s outstanding success streak is going on and on. There is likely to be no full stop before it ever. The colt is awash with confidence, determination, momentum and capabilities that will allow him to continue his big shows for some years to come.
Indeed, Frankel’s class is a role model for the other horses and their trainers. The examples he has set can lead his successors well in their career journeys. The fact is that the colt loves to enjoy the hullaballoo his victories create.
