Frankel looking to stretch winning streak by claiming Qipco Champion Stakes (Group 1)
With 13 consecutive victories and no defeat in his career, Frankel is likely to blaze away with a victory in the Qipco Champion Stakes (British Champions Middle Distance) (Group 1) at Ascot in England on Saturday, October 20, 2012.
The young stallion is simply one of the best in the history of the sport and it will not be easy for any of his rivals to cause many problems for him. However, the soft track conditions will not suit him at all and he might have to suffer an upset in the
end.
The four-year-old colt will enter the race with a starting price of 2 to 7 and the punters will definitely not be interested in risking too many bets against him. A victory will earn him a cash prize of £737,230 in the 1 mile 2 furlong contest.
There was only one time in Frankel’s career, when he raced on a soft track and that was right at the start of his career. He was rated as the favourite to succeed back then, but had to work extremely hard in order to attain glory.
However, the Sir Henry Cecil’s trainee managed to prevail in the end, but by just half a length. It will be interesting to see whether he manages to maintain his 100 percent winning record at the end of the day. His partner will be no one else but Tom Queally,
who has been accompanying him since the start of his career.
On the other hand, Cirrus Des Aigles is an expert under such conditions and he will be fancying his chance today. He has got a lot of experience, as he has appeared in 44 events, winning 16 of them.
The six-year-old gelding finished first in his most recent race by nine lengths and he will be full of confidence right now. He has got a solid chance of creating history today, but there will be a lot of pressure on him.
Furthermore, Nathaniel will also be confident of a solid show today, as he too will like the rain affected ground at Ascot. He made his debut in the same race as Frankel and gave a tough time to him. He will be hoping for a repeat of that performance today.
