Frankel pepping for the big day at Newmarket
The genius race horse, Frankel, is just about to bid his brilliant three-year unbeaten campaign that comprises of nine Group 1 races. The Sir Henry Cecil trained has always paired up with jockey, Tom Queally. The jockey will put on the pink, white and green
silks of owner, Khalid Abdullah, for the last time on 20th October when racing the Galileo’s charming colt.
His preparations for the big day in the meanwhile are at the Rowley Mile at Newmarket with his stable mate and three-parts brother, Bullet Train.
He said: "We are currently enjoying a beautiful autumnal day and the ground is good to soft with a going stick reading of 6.9
"The forecast is for Wednesday to be dry. It is also predicted to be dry for much of Thursday before a band of rain is anticipated late afternoon. That should have gone through by dawn on Friday."
Rumours have it that the ground at Ascot that will seal the colt’s priceless career, will be soft. The colt out of, Kind, has predominantly won on track conditions coupled with good, however the racing manager for the stud, Teddy Grimthorpe, reassured the
fans and the curious that the soft ground cannot pose any serious threat for the top rated miler in the world.
Grimthorpe said: "Frankel is fine and hopefully it will be a good race. I cannot say he'll race come what may.
"If the ground worsened we would look at it and make a decision. But I don't think he would be unduly worried by soft ground."
It was nearly two years ago that Frankel won over surface like this, and brought down Nathaniel.
The two will meet at the Ascot race course again after Nathaniel was withdrawn from the line-up of the Arc. One of the most testing entries for the Qipco Champion Stakes is, Cirrus Des Aigles who is emerging out of nine-length success at Longchamp on Saturday.
The four-year-old will get to stud duty after giving his fans the last spectacle, and posting a fourteen out of fourteen on his own enviable profile. The odds that he is backed by might shift after some more entries make their way into the line-up of Frankel’s
last race.
