Frankel set to participate in JLT Lockinge Stakes
Frankel’s participation in the JLT Lockinge Stakes at Newbury in England has been confirmed by his trainer. Sir Henry Cecil. The race is scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 19, 2012.
The four-year-old colt has got a spectacular record in the sport, as he has maintained a 100 percent winning record in nine races. He has simply been untouchable until now and will definitely earn the confidence of the bookmakers in the upcoming event at
Newbury.
Frankel made his debut in the sport back in 2010 and has been dominant since then. However, he suffered an injury some time ago, which would have put some doubts in the minds of the punters.
On the other hand, Excelebration will also be the one to watch out for in the race, as he is a quality performer. He has entered 10 events until now, winning six of them and finishing runner up on a couple of times. In addition to that, he also secured the
third spot once, which means that only dropped out of the top three in one race.
Aidan O'Brien, trainer of Excelebration, believes that his colt is in perfect condition and will definitely make an impression in the JLT Lockinge Stakes.
According to O'Brien “He's fine. He's a very relaxed horse and good enough to compete. Marco Botti did a great job with him, but he's a year older and has strengthened up. It will be interesting taking on Frankel and if you know his Achilles heel, I wish
you'd let me know!”
So You Think, who is also trained by O'Brien, was listed in the entries for Newbury, but there is a doubt over his participation in the race. He is a seasoned runner and has taken part in 21 events until now, winning 12 of them. In addition to that, he has
also finished runner up on four times, which shows that he is a quality performer.
However, O'Brien stated, “We gave him (So You Think) a bit of a break after Dubai and we'll wait a bit longer with him. He'll probably run in the Tattersalls Gold Cup at the Curragh (May 27)."
