Frankel to take down the competition in the Queen Anne Stakes at Ascot
No one could have imagined a better start for the 2012 meeting of the Royal Ascot than to have the world’s highest rated race horse to raise the curtain for the most prestigious start to the flat racing season.
The four-year-old is putting his ten to ten career at stake by being the part of the Group 1 Queen Anne Stakes (British Champions Series) at the Ascot on Tuesday, 19th June over a mile. As has been the tradition, stable mate, Bullet Train, will
share the racing track today too.
Having lost four times against the best miler on the world has not shattered the confidence and the courage of the four-year-old bay colt, Excelebration. He will lock horns yet again with the agenda of accomplishing just next to the best. With Frankel racing,
it is hard to think of dominating the race itself but pulling out decently remains to be the priority of the rest of the line-up.
However, this time even Sir Henry Cecil has stated that they are not looking for a victory coupled with a massive margin particularly keeping in mind the bar set for the race today.
It is a seventh time that Frankel will race over the same distance and making the most out of it by exploiting the experience is just the plan. This is the second seasonal outing of Galileo’s colt and if Excelebration finishes as the runner up today then
it will be a straight third time for Frankel to set the Exceed And Excel colt into the second slot.
Despite the injury and threatening implications that could have followed, Frankel made an impressive and astounding entrance into the new season. He kick started the season on 19th May in the Group 1 JLT Lockinge Stakes (British Champions Series)
at Newbury over a mile.
The 2/7 favourite winner led Excelebration by a good five lengths.
Last year it was not the Queen Anne Stakes that the bona fide star won but the Group 1 St James’s Palace Stakes (British Champions’ Series) on 14th June, 2011 over a mile.
He leads on with 1/6 odds and his improvement since Lockinge Stakes coupled with work outs has enhanced his chances of success all the more.
