Frankel v Black Caviar, an ideal clash
Whenever a list of all-time greats will be made, Frankel and Black Caviar are going to sit at the top. Both are extraordinary runners, and have never met defeat so far.
Sir Henry Cecil’s 4-year-old, Frankel, has been producing positive results since August 2010. The legendary horse is surely one of the best in business. He maintains the highest standards of speed and stamina on every start.
Owned by Khalid Abdulla, the bay colt started off this season with an emphatic win at Newbury. He continued the best work, and crushed the opposition respectively at Royal Ascot and Glorious Goodwood.
By ensuring a comprehensive 7-length win over Farhh in the Group 1, Juddmonte International Stakes at York, where the going was good to firm, Frankel proved his ability to do well in any situation. Tom Queally, who rode Frankel that day, said after the race:
"It is unbelievable. It was special as everybody really got behind him and the Yorkshire crowd really appreciated him being here. Going that quick a pace helped as there was no funny business - it was end-to-end we were racing and the best horse won and
he won comprehensively.”
"He was relaxed all the way, he was really in a rhythm, and that is important. None of us had any worry about the trip but you can't get complacent."
Suppose, if Frankel takes on Black Caviar, would it not be the best competition of the horseracing history? Yes, surely it will be a great contest. Black Caviar is an equally great runner, who has 22 straight wins under her belt.
The concerns over her ability to win in Great Britain disappeared in June, when the dashing mare sealed a close triumph in the Group 1, Diamond Jubilee Stakes. The 12-time Group One champion often shows no mercy to her opponents, and crushes them really
bad.
If these two greats lock horns, who will be the triumphant? It is a very difficult question. I believe Frankel will have the edge. He is younger, and has a bit more energy. It will be a different situation altogether, if the completion takes place outside
UK.
But if the two legends meet in Great Britain, Frankel will certainly be able to steal the show. Although Black Caviar managed to be successful at Ascot last time, it seems that she needs a few more races to adjust to the English conditions.
