Question:

Frankfurt or Copenhagen?

Lately I received two job offers. One is based in Frankfurt, Germany, and the other is based in Copenhagen, Denmark. These offers are similar, but the one in Frankfurt is slightly more attractive I think. Salaries are comparable. Which city is a better place to live in? My main concern is I speak English only..so I wonder how my social life would look like in both of the cities?? Where people are more open? And where would I adhere more easily? Any advice from you would be much appreciated, thanks!

  1. you are going to have much more fun in copenhagen. people are a bit more open and the danes are a lot of fun. Frankfurt is very business city like.

to compare the salary offers, make sure you take the taxes and cost of living in account - copenhagen is more expensive than frankfurt and the taxes are higher too.

  2. In my experience, you'd get by better with English in Denmark than in Germany, so this is what your decision falls or stands on, then I'd say Copenhagen, where you should have very few problems even if you don't speak Danish.

Of course, I'm Danish, so I'm biased, but I have lived in a German-speaking country, have visited Germany several times and have German friends.

  3. I would go to Copenhagen for sure... People are usually more willing to speak English there than in Germany, in my experience. And Copenhagen has also been voted the most livable city in the world. Danes are very nice people! Think you will feel more "at home" in Copenhagen. :)

  4. Copenhagen is a really nice place to live. And I think people there are more friendly than in Germany.

But I think German is easier to learn than Danish.

Tough choice! Maybe you should visit both cities first before you make a decision.

  5. Go for Copenhagen, absolutely!

Danes have fantastic English skills. The city is also beautiful, interesting and alot of fun, good to balance out with your work. Danish people are great, open, helpful, good communicators and good looking people too.

The architecture of Copenhagen is also very interesting, even things as simple as door handles!

German's, from my experience are a little less open and the city of Frankfurt doesn't come close to the beauty and fun of Copenhagen.

Go with your gut, but do yourself a favour and consider Copenhagen especially.

  6. I have stayed in Copenhagen for a year

Its too good there, but I feel Frankfurt is much bigger than Copenhagen and as for the language both places do not offer much, but Copenhagen and Frankfurt both are too good, Copenhagen, Denmark offers free health insurance and other benefits don't know about Frankfurt. but from an airplane Frankfurt looks good and i have heard it has more opportunities.

  7. Go to Copenhagen! (which was just named the best big city in the world).
