Frankie Dettori all faithful about Opinion Poll for the Qipco Chapion Stakes at the Ascot
The five-year-old Irish horse Opinion Poll has raced eight times this season, winning twice. The first time it was at Goodwood in July and then it was at the York in August. The jockey who gets credit for both the victories is Frankie Dettori. Four of his
starts this season ended up with him finishing second.
He has raced with Ahmed Ajtebi, Mickael Barzalona and Frankie Dettori during this year. Now the Qipco Champion Stakes will see the charisma of their partnership again.
On 28th July at Goodwood, Opinion Poll stayed at a very moderate pace till the midfield then by the seventh furlong out, he started closing in. he paced up when the leader went quick five furlong out. Opinion Poll then shifted left and the jockey
had to put in effort over two furlong out.
From this moment on he got onto chasing the leader and turned right over one furlong out. He led the upcoming furlong, entered the final furlong and won all out.
Next victory was at the York on 20th August where Opinion Poll tracked the leaders while Frankie Dettori put in some effort for over four furlong out. He confronted challenge for two furlong out.
He switched right but ended up bumping when he could not go through the narrow clearance into the final furlong. He went on riding harder, edged left and crossed the wire.
It was at Doncaster that he raced last on 9th September and came second. He was not really paced up rather was towards the rear. He got challenged for two furlong out. Rode on many horses to lead over one furlong out. Next he was into the final
furlong and went second after the winner by edging left in the end.
Dettori said: "He's an ultra consistent horse. He has three lengths to find with Fame And Glory, but he always wants to win and is probably my best chance. He is a very well balanced, solid horse who never runs a bad race”.
Dettori has raced Opinion Poll twice in a go to victory, he has grown accustomed to the tactics and tricks that work for the horse in order to win. By keeping them in mind while on the track there is a negligible possibility of losing the Qipco Champion
Stakes.
