Frankie Dettori exempt from riding owing to the six month ban by the France Galop
Ever since 16th September, 2012, the failed drug test and its likely unfavourable repercussions have hung in the air for very long and finally the France Galop has refrained Frankie Dettori’s racing for six months. The ban can be reciprocated
for an indefinite time period in case the jockey fails to abide by any more rules. The Italian will now need to be more careful than ever before.
He did not have to wait until Tuesday for getting banned in France as that was enforced on Frankie Dettori last month by the medical committee of the French racing authority.
A statement from France Galop read: "Following yesterday's examination of the file and after having duly notified the jockey Lanfranco Dettori of its decision, the Medical Committee has temporarily suspended the said jockey from riding in races in France,
based on medical grounds."
The jockey had given up racing and taking chances which could further ruin his case ever since 6th November. He should be thankful for the time of the suspension as the National Hunt season will go well into March of 2013. Even then, there is
not much that can be appreciated about suspensions.
His solicitor, Christopher Stewart-Moore, has stated on the behalf of his client that he will accept and bide by the ‘conclusions without any reservations’.  There was no provision of an otherwise statement, but his cooperation with the authorities can only
bring him benefit and the longest shot, some support.
The jockey who has raced in the royal blues of the Godolphin banner has earned the much deserved respect, fame and popularity during the eighteen-year association the two enjoyed. It came to an end this season and for 2013 the champion jockey has decided
the serve the industry as a free lance rider which of course can and will include rides from his former employer.
Dettori’s solicitor earlier stated:
“On behalf of Frankie Dettori I can confirm that, as a consequence of a positive test at Longchamp on September 16 2012, he will be the subject of an inquiry by the Medical Committee of France Galop next week."
It continued: "In compliance with, and out of respect for, the regulations of France Galop, he will not be commenting further until the France Galop procedures have been completed."
