Frankie Dettori not to race in France after the France Galop meeting
Penalties and suspensions in case of the Italian jockey, Frankie Dettori, have still not reached a final dead end. However, he can no longer race in France until further notice. On Tuesday, he attended the session with the Medical Committee of the French
racing authority through a conference call along with getting represented by his solicitor, Christopher Stewart-Moore.
The committee has denied his participation in French races on medical grounds until further notice.
A statement from France Galop read: "Following yesterday's examination of the file and after having duly notified the jockey Lanfranco Dettori of its decision, the Medical Committee has temporarily suspended the said jockey from riding in races in France,
based on medical grounds."
On behalf of the trainer, the solicitor offered:
"Following today's announcement by France Galop setting out the conclusions of their medical committee, Frankie Dettori would like to say that he accepts their conclusions without reservation. He is grateful to the medical committee for their time and in
particular for listening to his explanation of his position.”
Frankie Dettori has not raced since 6th November and has now resorted to race not at all anywhere until the issue sets down once and for all. Luckily for the star jockey of the fraternity, the flat season has taken off which means that there are
no significant meetings that he will be missing. His chances for the champion jockey’s title will not waver because of missed races owing to suspension or penalties.
The reasons for the news getting highlighted to an extent which it does not truly deserve, is because of his high-profile status. He gets to race way more rides than an average jockey and gets to attend all the major meetings throughout the globe.
Consequently, his chances of getting tested and also failing in them are higher than any other jockey in the sport right now.
His career as a free lance rider did not really get a chance to take flight as his wings were cut down quite soon. He opted for racing as a free lance jockey once his eighteen-year association with his former employer, Godolphin racing, terminated.
Frankie Dettori has ridden the Darley bred rides even after the termination of his retention with the previous employer.
