Frankie Dettori proud about the enviable performance of Gamilati in UAE 1,000 Guineas and is successful into the seventh fixture of the Carnival
Gamilati posted an astounding win on 3rd February in the UAE 1,000 Guineas, sponsored by Gulf News, at the Meydan racecourse. This race was her second start of the new season and a second victory too.
Gamilati was ridden through the mile’s track by none other than Frankie Dettori, with whom Gamilati has won twice before.
On 8th July 2011, Gamilati won the Group 2 Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Cherry Hinton Stakes at Newmarket, and then the UAE 1,000 Guineas Trial on 6th January at Meydan.
The success on 3rd February however, was more emotional for the jockey than the others as he said:
“I was obviously very hopeful about Gamilati beforehand but I did not expect that sort of performance.
“I was swinging off her turning for home and she picked up very strongly off a steady pace.
“I was pleasantly surprised with her and that was an impressive run.”
Through the last two fixtures of the Carnival, on 26th January and 3rd February, Frankie Dettori has ridden ten times out of which he won at four instances, two from the sixth fixture and an equivalent amount of wins during the most recent fixture.
He won on 26th January in the Dubai Duty Free Foundation Handicap while riding the 6/4 favourite African Story for Saeed bin Suroor.
Frankie Dettori rode Mahmood Al Zarooni trained Time Prisoner to a third place in the Dubai Duty Free Handicap, and then yet again rode for Mahmood Al Zarooni, riding Capponi to victory in the Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire Handicap.
He also rode Fallen Idol for a second  position in the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championship for Saeed bin Suroor.
Besides the two wins in the seventh fixture of the Carnival on 3rd February, Frankie Dettori rode Red Gulch to a third place finish in the Freehold Trophy Handicap, Right To Dream for fourth in the Meydan Classic Trial, and Humidor to a twelfth place finish.
He won while onboard Gamilati, the ½ favourite, in the UAE 1,000 Guineas and rode yet another victor, 15/8 favourite, Fox Hunt, in the Tabloid Trophy Handicap.
Being the retained jockey for Godolphin Racing, Frankie Dettori will be riding constantly at least till 31st of March and will thus get a chance to credit more victories against his name.
There are many prospective entries from Godolphin Racing in the coming fixtures that will be ridden by Frankie Dettori and Mickael Barzalona.
