Frankie Dettori’s solicitor finds the France Galop hearing sympathetic
The Frankie story took a new twist when his solicitor, Christopher Stewart-Moore, extended on his statement, ‘conclusions without any reservations’, to the ace jockey in the fraternity getting ‘a sympathetic hearing’.
He said: "We have had a very sympathetic hearing and out of respect to France Galop, we will not be making any comment until such time as France Galop make their announcement, which we understand will be tomorrow morning."
The penalties to the drug test that came positive on 16th September when Frankie Dettori had to mount four rides, can brim down to a six-month ban for the champion jockey. His last public appearance was on 6th November in the Melbourne Cup In Australia. Ever since then the jockey who is usually seen in the Fly Emirates sponsored uniform, put a full stop on his activities in order to prevent any likely aggravation of the situation.
France Galop denied him racing in France even before any concrete outcome was reached by the committee.
A statement from France Galop read: "Following yesterday's examination of the file and after having duly notified the jockey Lanfranco Dettori of its decision, the Medical Committee has temporarily suspended the said jockey from riding in races in France, based on medical grounds."
“On behalf of Frankie Dettori I can confirm that, as a consequence of a positive test at Longchamp on September 16 2012, he will be the subject of an inquiry by the Medical Committee of France Galop next week."
The jockey has been in the headlines the last two months now. He became the attention hub when his eighteen-year association with the Godolphin string came to an end. After staying under the flash due to the breach of the contract, he still did not wave the final good bye to the media as the positive drug test followed right in.
The jockey has been careful ever since the hearings and has been more than cooperative, these elements just might work in his favour as the suspension duration is yet to be decided.
After coming clean out of the charges, the jockey plans on going free lance at the beginning of the 2013 season and is also open to race the rides of his previous employer.
