Franz Beckenbauer: Barcelona’s success rate will someday become a cause of their downfall
One of the biggest names in Bayern Munich history, Franz Beckenbauer, has revealed that Barcelona’s success rate will someday become a cause of their downfall. He also hailed the Spanish powerhouse and, at the same time, reserved praise for Barcelona’s wonder
kid, Lionel Messi.
The legendary defender hailed Pep Guardiola’s men for their success during the past three years. He reckoned that Barcelona are the best team around but their success will one day become their own rival.
Beckenbauer added that the Catalan giants had an outstanding 2010/11 campaign but recent results have already put them under little bit of pressure. The former sweeper told that all Barca fans expect nothing less than a win.
The mindset, the legend believes, is gradually becoming a headache for the Camp Nou outfit.
While talking to Mundo Deportivo, the 66-year-old further enthused, "The great rival of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 is Barcelona themselves. Why? Quite simply, the fans never have enough now that Barca have won so many things and have played so well; they will not settle
for less.”
The former Bayern Munich manager also reserved praise for Barcelona’s little magician, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lionel-Messi-c22296. He termed him ‘unstoppable’ and thought that Guardiola is lucky to have the Argentinean in his ranks.
Beckenbauer suggested Barca to credit Messi for their imminent success in Spain and Europe. He further mentioned the importance of the Argentine striker and wished him success for the rest of his career with the Catalonian outfit.
The legendary German concluded the talks by saying, "This team is the best I've seen in my life, they are the reason http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 won the European Championships in 2008, and the World Cup [in 2010]. Lionel Messi is by far the best player in the world, the most
decisive player for what he brings to the team and what he does individually."
Messi has an incredible 129 league goals from 186 appearances since making his first team debut for Barcelona in 2004. The player, though, hasn’t had the same success rate with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Argentina-c2841 but is still believed to be the best player around.
Concluding the talks, Beckenbauer warned Barcelona against complacency, advising them to maintain their form in order to avoid the fans’ beating.
