Franz Beckenbauer: Bayern Munich will act cautious over http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arjen-Robben-c6521’s contract extension
The former Real Madrid legend and Dutch international, Arjen Robben, suddenly finds himself in danger of not getting a new contract at Allianz-Arena. The player has had an injury prone 2011/12 season thus far and could be on his way out if things don’t start
getting better, according to the Reds legend, Franz Beckenbauer.
The 66-year-old legendary defender admitted of player’s importance in the line-up but only when he is ready to play on a regular basis. Beckenbauer claimed that Robben’s future at the club is in serious doubt especially after a series of injuries, which
have regularly kept him away from action.
Robben has only featured in four league games this term due to his ongoing injury, which has become frustrating for the club officials. The winger was earlier sent back to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Netherlands-c753 manager, Bert van Marwijk, after failing to appear in a Euro
qualifier game against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sweden-c3015 due to the same injury problem.
Having already scored 30 goals from 42 league games until now, the Dutch winger has been an integral part of Jupp Heynckes’ side since joining in 2009. The player last made a league appearance against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hamburger-SV-c39485 back in August and since then has been in
the recovery process.
While talking to TZ regarding Robben’s future at Allianz-Arena, the 27-year-old further mentioned, "It depends. We do not know how long his injury sensitivity persists. In his first season at Bayern, he was sensational and rarely injured. We [will] have
to see how he comes back.”
He concluded his remarks by saying, "When Arjen is fit, he is the best in his position in the world. So, if he still is somewhat good, I would immediately [offer] an extension to him. It's great that the team are doing well without him. The discussion about
whether Bayern [are] better without Robben is absurd. Of course the team [is] better with him."
The former Real Madrid player has so far had a troubled period with the Bavarians but is gradually recovering now. Robben is expected to be fit in two weeks time and feature in the Champions League game against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 on Wednesday, November 2.
