The Bayern Munich President is confident that his side become European champions this season and are capable of beating the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604.
The Bavarian giants have already progressed to the quarter-final of the competition where they will take on French side Olympique Marseille. Bayern have been in sensational form this season and their performances have been in complete
contrast to the previous campaign.
Jupp Heynckes’ side have also progressed to the final of the German Cup and are in touching distance of Borussia Dortmund in second sport on the Bundesliga standings table. With seven games still to go in the season including a
clash against the reigning champions in April, the league title is also a possibility.
Beckenbauer claimed that his side can win the DFB-Pokal and insisted that winning the Champions League is also on the cards. The honorary chief stated that if his side reaches the final, they will certainly be the favourites to
lift the crown as the match will be played at Allianz Arena.
The former Bavarian added that even if Bayern face Barcelona in the final, the Reds will have the support of the home fans behind them which will be a huge advantage.
“The DFB-Pokal I can imagine, maybe even the Champions League is feasible. If you play at home in the Champions League final, you are favourites - even against Barcelona,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The President also voiced his opinion on the possible clash against Real Madrid in the semi-final of the competition. If Bayern progress, they will most likely face Los Blancos in the last four clash as the Spanish giants have
a relatively easy clash against Cyprian side APOEL FC.
Beckenbauer added that Madrid are beatable as they play football like any other team on the planet. He admitted that the fixture will be a tough one but Bayern can get the better of Jose Mourinho’s side.
“I think it will happen. It is a manageable task as Madrid play football like everyone else,” he concluded.
Bayern Munich will face Marseille in the first-leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-final at the Stade Velodrome on Wednesday, March 28.
