Franz Beckenbauer claims Manchester City have a long way to go to reach the best- Bundesliga news
Bayern Munich legend Franz Beckenbauer has claimed that Manchester City have a long way to go in becoming a great club. He insisted that although the Manchester side has spent heavily in the transfer window in the last two years,
they still do not have the class of a top European club.
Die Bayern downed the Citizens in one of the most awaited clashes of the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday at Allianz Arena. Striker Mario Gomez scored the two goals for the home side as the visitors suffered a comprehensive 2-0
defeat in the end, still awaiting their first win in Europe this season.
Bayern Munich now lead the Group-A with six points and have won both the games played so far in Europe. They earlier defeated http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 and now a win over the English side has put them in a strong position to qualify
for the knock-out phase.
Beckenbauer claimed that although Manchester City is a good side, they have a long way to go to get to the level where the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester United are. He admitted that they must be better than some
of the Bundesliga teams as well but Bayern Munich is a far superior team.
“We should not forget that although Manchester City are a good club and are stronger than many Bundesliga sides, they're not a great team like Real Madrid or Manchester United,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The former Bavarian defender hailed the Munich giants for their recent performances. He claimed that the team has to reach to the level of current European champions Barcelona and for that they have to work hard.
“Bayern are definitely not of the same level as Barcelona just yet. Claiming that would be a big exaggeration. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 have won so many titles in the past few years, while we were relatively anonymous during those years,” he
concluded.
Bayern Munich will next face http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 in the Champions League.
