The Bayern Munich president has heaped praise on newly appointed sporting director Matthias Sammer ahead of the start to the new season.

The Bavarian giants appointed Matthias Sammer as their new sporting director earlier this month after sacking Christian Nerlinger following a disappointing season last term. Jupp Heynckes’ side failed to win any trophy for the
second year running and were defeated in two Cup finals.
Beckenbauer praised Sammer as a great leader and insisted that the club is privileged to have him. He claimed that the former Borussia Dortmund man is extremely performance oriented which will be great for the side and is looking
forward to working with him in the future.
The World Cup winner revealed that Bayern had been after Sammer for a long time but Jurgen Klinsmann and Louis Van Gaal opposed the move. He admitted that the former Technical director of the German national side has worked wonders
for Die Mannschaft in the past and is hopeful that Sammer continues to do that for Bayern as well.
“Sammer is a leader, you'll find none better than him. He has always driven his teams forward. We don't have anyone like that. Sammer will revive http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Bayern-Munich-c39081 because the players will believe in him. First it was Jurgen Klinsmann
who came in between us and then it was Louis van Gaal. Thankfully it has finally worked out,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
On the other hand, Beckenbauer criticised Bayern players for underperforming at the recently concluded European championships in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Manuel-Neuer-c23424 played to his full potential in the competition
and admitted that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 could not have won Euro 2012 with out of form players.
“None of them demonstrated their normal form except maybe Manuel Neuer. All the others really under-performed. How can you become European champions like that? It just doesn't work that way,” he concluded.
The Bavarians have done some handy business in the summer transfer window this term and have signed some very talented players in the form of Mario Mandzukic, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dante-c10236.
