The Bayern Munich President reckons that the Dutchman is selfish and deserves to be left out of the starting XI.
Franz Beckenbauer has lashed out at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arjen-Robben-c6521 for being selfish in his approach and has insisted that the player’s performances have been below par this season.
The former sweeper reckons that the winger deserves to be left out of the starting XI for the upcoming games. He mentioned that the Dutchman never respects his teammates and should credit them for the part they play in making the
goal.
Robben has had another injury-plagued season with the Bavarian giants and has appeared in only 12 league games. The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Netherlands-c753 international’s below par performances in the ongoing campaign have restricted him to a bench role
against Kaiserslautern and in the German Cup quarter-finals against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/VfB-Stuttgart-c40879 recently.
While talking to sports channel, Sky, the former New York Cosmos star further added:
"He has played away some of his recognition. He is selfish like so many others. His reaction alone to when he has a good effort or scores a goal; he does not run towards the player who set him up to score but instead he runs towards
his family in the stands. He lets the team run after him.”
Beckenbauer opined that if Robben continues adopting the same approach, his own teammates will line up against his inclusion. The chairman added that the players should work as a team if they want to be successful and suggested
that Robben must soon take note of this intolerable approach else he will be the one to suffer eventually.
"At some point the team-mate will say 'if you are not going to recognise my pass then next time you can come and get the ball yourself,” Beckenbauer concluded.
However, Robben is confident of extending his stay at the Allianz-Arena despite being heavily criticised recently. He has also urged his fans to stay calm over the entire situation as Bayern officials will eventually come up with
a renewed deal.
