Franz Beckenbauer questions Marco Reus’ possible transfer to Bayern Munich - Bundesliga News
Legendary Bayern Munich defender, Franz Beckenbauer, has opposed Marco Reus’ possible transfer to Allianz-Arena next season. He was of the view that Bayern won’t benefit by the player’s arrival and will have a surplus of quality attackers in their ranks.
Beckenbauer was talking in the wake of claims made by the club chairman, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, on the player’s transfer. The chairman had instated desire of tying knots with the striker, following Reus’ terrific run of form at Borussia Park.
Reus has had a magnificent 2011/12 campaign so far and has already scored 10 league goals this season. The player recently scored a hat-trick in the club’s last league game against Werder Bremen, prompting Rummenigge to reinstate his wish.
However, the former sweeper believed that Reus’ arrival would do no good to the club or the player. He opined that the youngster would certainly lack first team action especially with the presence of quality attackers like Mario Gomez, Thomas Muller, Franck
Ribery and fit-again, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arjen-Robben-c6521.
Beckenbauer was of the view that Reus should be allowed more time to make a name for himself, and Bayern, in the meantime, should make use of the resources available to them.
The legend also showered praise on Reus for his tremendous achievements thus far, wishing him success for the rest of his career. He also advised him not to consider making a move to Bayern or he’ll definitely be short on first team opportunities.
While talking to Bild, the 66-year-old further stated:
"Reus too at Bayern? That could cause problems. [Arjen] Robben is playing, and [Franck] Ribery. [Thomas] Muller until just recently. Reus could be one star too many."
For his part, the attacker isn't paying much heed to comments floating around, as his agent revealed that Reus is only focussing on his stint with the revived Gladbach.
He told that Reus doesn’t have any plans to part ways with the Borussia Park outfit despite learning of interest from big name clubs like Bayern Munich and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429.
"Reus is honoured by the interest of top clubs. But right now there are no contract talks. He is concentrating only on the season, which for him is going outstandingly well, and is focusing on achieving his ultimate goal, the European Championship." The
agent concluded.
