Franz Beckenbauer wants FIFA to change the ruling on triple punishment – International News
The former Bayern Munich sweeper, Franz Beckenbauer, has requested FIFA for a change in triple punishment rule. He also demanded a change in the offside rule in order to make the game simple for both the players and referees.
Beckenbauer believes that a player should not be given a red card for a foul in the area. He suggested that the only caution should result in form of a penalty and a yellow card. The former German star believes that red cards are harsh on the conceding player
and his team, as they are also penalized with a penalty.
The former Marseille manager also added that FIFA should work to bring changes to some modern rules in order to make the game fairer and simple. He thought that referees get criticism for their decision making, which could be avoided by making things simple
and easier to understand.
Franz also asked the sport’s governing council to change rules for the goalkeepers. He considered it an unfair practice when the goalie gets sanctioned for tackling a player inside the box while stopping him from scoring.
He enthused that any shot stopper firmly has rights to guard his net and shouldn’t be treated harshly for a foul inside the box. The legendary defender reckoned that referees should award spot-kicks at most.
While talking to reporters on this issue, the 66-year-old further mentioned, "Any other simple fouls in the penalty area should only be sanctioned with a penalty and a yellow card. The same punishment is proposed for a goalkeeper who tries to catch the ball
but tackles the legs of a player. The aim is make it easier for referees to ensure uniform and fairer decisions."
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 international also demanded a change in ‘stupid’ offside rule for the betterment of game. He thought that FIFA could take steps to make the game simple and easier for both the players and linesmen.
He concluded his talks by saying, "In my time it was very simple, offside was offside, it didn't matter where the ball was. It's nonsense [now], it's too complicated.”
Beckenbauer is of the belief that a few changes in the rules would make the beautiful game simpler and error free.
