  1. H will definelty go to charges, probably get about a yr in prison since it was under 500.00.  Or he might just get community service and probation.  The bank can file charges of bank fraud which would be more serious,  good thing the bank caught it.

  2. Often times police stations do not bother this this form of crime. You simply fill out the paper work and press charges. They'll probably let the person off with a hand slap. BUT, the reason to still fill out the forms are because if they ever do it again they'll be in real trouble then.

It will prove that it was not a one time lapse of judgement, like the person will claim it will be. Most judges understand people doing something completely stupid once in their life.

That the bank caught it and they were not able to cash it and get the money saved their butts as well. But file the charges so it's on record in case they try to do it again and it's not just a one time stupid act, but something they are working at.

Sorry this happened to you. Realize that when a crime happens to you it can make you feel badly about people and the world. But think how many checks are written every day and how rare this happens. Most people are good, just the bad ones are louder so they sound like there are many.
