I fell for a scam from a supposed GE Alarm system dealer, who promised a free system in exchange for "advertising" their product. Long story short, they installed the monitoring panel on my land line phone line and now won't come get it out now that I've canceled. I'm sure they intend to come try to collect it at some point, but I'm tired of being jerked around , they keep changing the time and not showing up.
I've removed the panel from my wall, disconnected it from the wires that were coming out of the wall and disabled the battery.
I've since read up about this scam and apparently there's a clause in the fine print about them being able to monitor and record both audio (and video but I don't know how) in your home and by your signing the agreement you have given them permission to do so.
So I'm hardly an expert on this stuff, but I've completely disabled the panel itself as far as I can tell. I don't know how to remove the extra wires from my wall, as they seem to be secured.
