  1. black flag

  2. you can have a professal service come out a spray. Very costly. Or use a large sprayer and mix your own spider spray, or buy lg. spray cans of RAID.

  3. OK call ABC pest control or any one els brown recluses are 1 of the most poisonous spiders in  north America

  4. The pesticide sprays are very toxic to children, pets and the environment.

I use Diatomaceous Earth (DE) to get rid of bugs and spiders in my house.

DE can be bought at garden shops, nurseries, hardware stores, etc...

DE is a fine powder like talcum powder. However, at the microscopic level, it is like needles. DE is the fossilized remains of ancient sea creatures called Diatoms. The DE coats hard bodied insects when they crawl through it, and the needles pierce the exoskeleton causing the insect to dehydrate and die.

I bought a bottle like a mustard dispenser (like in restaurants) and filled that with the DE. The only caveat is that you don't want to breathe the dust when handling it.

I run a strip around the foundation of my house. I get it right on the foundation and the soil directly in contact with the foundation.

I also run a strip around the inside of my cabinets, at the base of the cabinets, the perimeter of rooms, (here I go lighter than what I use outside).

An interesting fact about DE is that there are different grades of DE, including a food grade. They use DE in flour to keep flour bugs out of flour. We eat it all the time.

I also learned here on YA that the British use horsechestnuts (They call them 'conkers') and that spiders won't go near them. You do have to keep them outside though, because they are toxic if ingested.

Also, if you have seen Black Widow spiders in your house, you will want to check shoes before putting them on. Widows like dark places like shoes.

The DE also works on Fire Ants. You will want to get as close to the mound without getting bitten and cover the mound with the DE and put a complete perimeter around the mound so that the ants HAVE to crawl through it to go anywhere.

One last thing, it will take several weeks to notice a difference. It doesn't have an IMMEDIATE effect. But you WILL see a difference.

  5. Call a pest control company or do what jc says....a regular regime may help reduce their occurence inside the house. Perhaps the pest control company can employ an outside treatment that will keep them out as well.

  6. Spiders dont like me, so I dont like spiders ... spray your windows and doors from the outside every 3-4 weeks with Ortho Home Defense, I get an occasional bug, but it has helped alot.

  7. most spiders are harmless why would you want to kill them?  just trap it in a jar and release it outside.

  8. If its any consolation, the spiders keep away all other bugs and critters.

  9. I have always been pro "catch and release" but not when it comes to poisonous spiders in the house. I would use a professional service. A brown recluse would be difficult for you to exterminate against. They are called "recluse" for a reason.
