Fred Phelps The epitome of slime?

This Sh*t goes around looking for funerals of US Soldiers and protests them with his followers screaming stuff like they deserve to be dead ,Burn in h**l He does this with g*y funerals too ! This is beyond freedom of speech and he just lost a law suite against him . I'm a x biker and would love to have a little talk with this guy Fred Phelps. If any one hears he's coming to Colorado please get ahold of me .This guy rates right up there with child molesters as far as I'm concerned! Are solders families sure as h**l don't deserve this kind of treatment and I will Help I promise!

As distasteful and rude as his actions were/are, I still believe in Freedom of Speech. It's unfortunate that a family cannot bury their loved one in peace and solitude. I can't even think of a way for cemetaries to limit who can and cannot attend an event... Unlike weddings, funerals are held in public places. Maybe there should be some kind of usher system, where the family can ask certain individuals to leave, but then again, imagine how many family members would try to have other family members escorted away.

I'm afraid it's just rude and disgusting, but not illegal.

I cannot add anything to this. He is a good candidate for a fiery car crash.

When he came to my town about a year ago the local sheriff wisely advised me to leave town for the day. I took his advice and worked out of state that day.

I would have hated to go to prison over those people but I doubt I could have restrained myself.

its kind of sad actually, he has destroyed his entire family just because he can't accept his own homosexuality.    Many of his children and grandchildren are g*y too.

This man claims to be a preacher but, he preaches only hate.  He is a disbarred lawyer with a church following of about 70 people, 60 of which are his relatives.  He is a disgrace and follows the news and shows up at funerals of military servicemen and women, protesting and shouting as they are being buried.  President Bush put into law a means by which this man and others cannot protest at military funerals but this disgusting person continues to behate and belittle anyone who he disagrees with.  He uses foul language and talks about how "f**s are going to h**l".  When a g*y teen was murdered, Phelps and his group showed up at the funeral with shouts that the boy was already in h**l.  He is a wife beater and it has been published that he continuously slapped his 10 month old son because he was crying (in front of the church).  He has a son who is estranged from him who tells the world that his father is anything but Christlike and preaches hateful messages which are not even close to the teachings of the Bible or of God. I am sure that he will one day meet his Maker and figure out what has gone wrong in his life.  Noone deserves the treatment this man dishes out. He is a very sick individual.

Actually there are groups like the freedom riders and rolling thunder who were volunteering to act as honor guards for military funerals.  they would park right in front of these slime balls and rev their engines.  the funerals were not exactly quiet but it sure did help.

ADD ON: posuer: Phelps is to freedom of speech  like a rash is to love making.

Phelps is not doing this for freedom of speech, he and his family are lawyers, they go from town to town and sue anyone who tries to stop them from protesting.  they use that money to go to the next town and protest.

That's not freedom of speech, that's extortion.
