Freddie Freeman shines as Atlanta Braves defeat Florida Marlins 3-2 – MLB Update

Freddie Freeman hit a 10th inning single on Wednesday, June 8 at Sun Life Stadium, Miami to guide the Atlanta Braves over the Florida Marlins 3-2.
The Marlins have found themselves in the deep morass of disappointment due to seven straight losses in as many games. However, Wednesday’s game was not in any way a mediocre performance on the Marlins’ part, as they fought, but lost.
The Braves’ hitters were poised to an early challenge from the Marlins once Ricky Nolasco came out to pitch. Brian McCann scored a single to centre in the very first inning, building early pressure on the Marlins.
Derek Lowe pitched tremendously strong innings to contain the Marlins’ hitters. His tactics paid off well as he pitched shut-out inning after inning. While Lowe was wonderfully successful in retaining an unshakable grip on the Marlins’ offence, the Braves’
hitters kept their aggressive game open.
Alex Gonzalez singled to centre in the top of fifth inning, adding to Nolasco and Marlins misery. Once the lead was doubled, the Marlins were trailing behind until the eighth inning, as Craig Kimbrel relieved Jonny Venters of the Braves.
The Marlins, who had lost six games in succession prior to this encounter, put on display a different game in the ninth inning just when they seemed to have already lost.
Mike Stanton got into an ideal position to produce something singular. Stanton took on Kimbrel, as he singled to right and then ran to second base after the throwing error by right-fielder J. Mather. His exploit levelled the score in an unlikely time, throwing
the Braves in jitters.
However, Freddie Freeman charged Mike Dunn, singled to centre in the 10th inning to score the tiebreaking run. The 3-2 lead was successfully defended and turned into a win by Scott Proctor who pitched a shut-out inning to give the Braves a 3-2
win.
Lowe, who threw seven strong innings, did not allow any runs, felt relieved by the result of the game. "The most important thing is we found a way to win," Lowe said. "We've been in a lot of tight games. We're used to it in a strange way. The majority of
our games are this way. It comes down to one pitch."
Already losing two, the Marlins will now be looking forward to a complete overhaul of their strategy to come up with something different in the third and last game of the series on Thursday.
