Freddie Freeman’s double RBIs help Atlanta Braves defeat Seattle Mariners 3-1 – MLB Update
Atlanta Braves’ first baseman, Freddie Freeman had a remarkable day as he went 1-for-4 and added one run with two RBIs in the Braves’ 3-1 victory against the Seattle Mariners at Safeco Field, Seattle on June 27.
After this thrilling win, the Braves led off the three-game series 1-0 at Seattle.
The Braves’ batters posted their initial run in the very first inning of the game to get a 1-0 lead. Brian McCann hit a solo homer (420 feet) towards centre-field to lift the momentum of his team. Second and third inning went without any run for both sides.
Dustin Ackley walked at the bottom of the second inning but Justin Smoak was ground out to the pitcher without adding any run. Jason Heyward was struck-out swinging and Nate McLouth popped out to short-stop at the top of the third inning.
In the fourth inning, the Mariners’ second baseman, Adam Kennedy struck a one-run homer (377 feet) towards right-field to tie the game 1-1. The pitchers did not permit any run during the fifth and sixth inning as they pitched in the right line.
The Braves’ starter, Brandon Beachy was amazing as he threw six overriding innings with an ERA of 3.04 and gave away just one run on three hits with one earned run. He was able to strike-out nine batters and permitted one walk on 107 pitches.
During the seventh inning, the Braves scored two leading runs to advance their score-card 3-1. Freeman struck a tie-breaking homer (416 feet) towards centre-field and McCann contributed the last run of the game. In the eighth inning, Ichiro Suzuki was ground
out to short-stop and Kennedy struck-out swinging without providing even a single run.
Freeman said, “I didn't want to let another one go by, so I tried to get there a little bit earlier. Curveball, fastball, lefty, right, it seems like he's just putting the barrel on the ball. It's awesome to see.”
The Braves’ manager, Fredi Gonzalez had a huge ovation for Freeman as he said, “For Freddie to hit straightaway centre in this ballpark, it's not a cheap one. You've got to hit it to get it out of here. It plays legit.”
Ninth inning again passed without any run as the batters got out in search of runs. The Braves put in a brilliant effort as they managed to contain the Mariners’ offence and get a crucial victory.
