Freddie Roach; Timothy Bradley is slow and cannot punch – Boxing News
If not Manny Pacquiao, at least Freddie Roach is making sure to counter every statement that is coming from Bradley’s end. Bradley asserted he is fast and powerful earlier this week and Roach countered it by saying Bradley is slow and cannot punch. The war
of words is heating up for the fight scheduled for June 9 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas between Manny Pacquiao and Timothy Bradley.
Earlier today, Roach said, “He has a lot of confidence and I think he knows he has something to prove because people are asking, 'Is he all done?' after the last fight, when we had a little bit of a poor performance. That's gonna get him a little more motivated,
and he's going to go out there and prove to the people he's still the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world. That muscle looks really good - but that's all it is: he's slow, he can't punch… I don't see any problems. I say it like it is: I thought it was
a bad choice [from Ariza]. I'm not going to let Manny suffer because of something between me and Ariza, that won't happen. It's not an issue at all.”
For now, Manny Pacquiao is training at Freddie Roach’s Wild Card Gym in Las Vegas. Earlier this week, the Filipino WBO welterweight champion spoke about his training sessions. According to Pacquiao, he is ready to take on the unbeaten American fighter Timothy
Bradley. Pacquiao stated that he is eating a lot of ‘bananas’ to ensure he has all the energy to counter Bradley.
In addition, Pacquiao and Roach said that they need to be careful of Bradley’s head butts, which can be a problem in the ring. Bradley is known for putting his head ahead of his body, a style that bothers most of his opponents. However, Pacquiao believes
he can counter Bradley’s head butts with his powerful punches.
For now, it is Bradley who is challenging Pacquiao’s title. If he wins, he will have the glory of taking down one of the best pound for pound boxers in the world today.
