Freddie Roach: Timothy Bradley will bring out the best in Manny Pacquiao – Boxing News
While many are of the view that Timothy Bradley is a difficult catch for Manny Pacquiao, Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach thinks otherwise. According to Freddie Roach, Timothy Bradley’s rough style will bring out the best in Manny Pacquiao when both the
fighters meet at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on June 9. According to Roach, Bradley will walk right into the storm of Pacquiao’s hard-hitting punches.
Roach, who is currently training with Manny Pacquiao, has arranged a Russian fighter for Pacquiao who can mimic Bradley’s rough ‘head and elbow’ style. Manny will be training especially with the Russian in order to understand how to tackle Bradley.
Talking about his strategy, Roach said, “I have one counter-puncher in case Bradley mimics Juan Manuel Marquez because Manny and Buboy (Fernandez) think that might happen but I don’t see it. I think he will be aggressive and I don’t think his style will
change that much and will come in with his head first.”
In his previous interview, Manny Pacquiao had mentioned using services of a fighter who can mimic Timothy Bradley’s style. According to Manny, Bradley has quite an objectionable fighting style because he uses his elbows and head a bit too much. However,
confident Pacquiao said that Bradley would taste his ferocious left handed punches if he tries to use his head too much. It should be noted here that analysts have already rated Bradley a 1 to 3 underdog for the fight. However, Bradley is confident that this
is the time for the Filipino to lose it all.
For Bradley, this will be his career’s first ever mega-out with his unbeaten streak on the line while Pacquiao will have his WBO welterweight title to defend. If Pacquiao loses, he not only loses his title but also his dignity since Bradley is a very junior
fighter to him. Pacquiao believes that Bradley is strong but as good as Juan Manuel Marquez, a Mexican fighter whom Pacquiao has defeated twice.
For now, Freddie Roach is giving his best to Manny and he wants Manny to knockout Bradley. According to Roach, it is best for Pacquiao to knockout Bradley to prove his mettle.
