Freddie Roach believes Manny Pacquiao is a better fighter now – Boxing News
Hall of Famer boxing coach Freddie Roach has been making statements regarding his fighter Manny Pacquiao right from the day Pacquiao vs. Bradley was confirmed. Roach is highly confident that Manny has all the abilities to be the number one fighter in the
world, despite the criticism the Filipino faces. In his recent interview, Freddie Roach concluded that Pacquiao has grown into a more focused fighter over the years.
When asked about Pacquiao’s performance, Roach said, “I believe he’s a better fighter now. He’s more focused, if the knockout comes it’ll be a bonus, but obviously Bradley’s a tough guy, he’s undefeated, he’ll be a little bit resilient, but I think you’re
going to see the best Manny Pacquiao yet. I’m just doing my best in training. I’m working hard to give a good fight.”
It should be noted here that Pacquiao has been criticised for his performance in his last four fights. Pacquiao gained recognition after he defeated industry’s top-notch fighters like Ricky Hatton, Oscar de la Hoya and Miguel Cotto via knockout. However,
those were his last three knockouts and after that, the Filipino went on a spree of decision wins. Due to Pacquiao last four decision wins, most analysts believe that he has lost his stint, as he is not able to knockout his opponents anymore.
Defending Manny Pacquiao, the current WBO welterweight champion, Freddie Roach claimed that Pacquiao is every inch the same fighter he was since day one. Roach insisted that Pacquiao still can knockout his opponents but he will not take the chance, since
he is a more focused fighter now.
In a previous interview, Roach had insisted that Pacquiao will knockout Bradley by the sixth round. According to Roach, Bradley is a tough fighter but Pacquiao is better and the Filipino can take him down easily. Earlier this week, Roach claimed that Bradley
does not stand a chance against Pacquiao in their bout scheduled for July 9 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. However, the unbeaten American Timothy Bradley believes that Manny Pacquiao is done from boxing and it is about time for him to lose.
