Freddie Roach believes Pacquiao has a fire underneath him again – Boxing News
Hall of Famer trainer Freddie Roach has warned Juan Manuel Marquez of Manny Pacquiao, asserting that the Mexican fighter has no clue of the former WBO welterweight champion’s best run. According to Roach, this is the last time Pacquiao is fighting Marquez
and he will knock out the Mexican.
“The fourth fight could be the same as the last three, but Manny's hungrier now. I don't think Márquez has seen the best Manny yet,” said Roach.
Both fighters have fought thrice, with Marquez not winning a single fight. Pacquiao has won two out of three fights, with the first one ending up in a tie. Both fighters have an eight-year-old rivalry, when they fought for the featherweight title. Pacquiao
was able to put Marquez on the mat in the very first round thrice but Marquez managed to continue fighting.
The second part of the fight was surprisingly dominated by Marquez and the match went into a tie.
“I think he has the fire underneath him that he used to have, Roach added. “He had four knockdowns in training camp, which were his first since the (Miguel) Cotto fight. He wasn't so compassionate in sparring this time.”
For Roach, Pacquiao is his all-time best fighter and he is proud of having him in the camp. Pacquiao has already promised Roach that the Hall of Famer’s four-fight-loss streak would end with this fight with a knockout. Even though Pacquiao is promising a
knockout, we all know the Filipino has always found it hard to put down Marquez.
On the other hand, even Marquez wants to go for a knockout, as he believes it is the only way to put down the Filipino. For Marquez, knocking out Pacquiao is the only way to end the rivalry with a win, as he believes leaving it to the judges would once again
give Pacquiao the edge.
Similarly, due to his recent loss at the hands of Timothy Bradley via split decision, which was indeed very controversial, even Pacquiao wants to keep the decision in the ring instead of resting it with the judges to ensure victory.
