Freddie Roach believes there is nothing left for another Manny vs. Marquez fight – Boxing News
Manny Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach thinks it is about time for Juan Manuel Marquez to move on. The Mexican pugilist had three fights with the Filipino fighter and he scored a victory in none. Manny Pacquiao won two fights while one fight ended up as
a tie. After the trilogy, Marquez is still eager to get a fourth fight but Roach thinks there is no point.
While talking about another instalment of Marquez vs. Pacquiao, Roach said, “It’s not my favorite fight. e fought three times, Manny beat him two out of three times. They know each other so well. If we can’t get (Floyd) Mayweather, I don’t see why we fight
Marquez again.”
To a certain extent, Roach is right. Even fans do not want to see Pacquiao taking on Marquez once again. Most people are now interested in Manny vs. Floyd Mayweather, which is currently not on the cards. In his recent interview, Juan Manuel Marquez said
that he wants to take on Manny Pacquiao once again to prove his mettle, but he got no response from Pacquiao’s camp.
After three fights in a row, Roach thinks there is no point left to prove. Pacquiao is currently scheduled to face Timothy Bradley on June 9 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Pacquiao will have his welterweight title on the line while Bradley will have his
unbeaten streak.
Pacquiao is currently in Los Angeles training at the Wild Card Gym for his fight against Bradley. It should be noted here that most analysts have already rated this fight as an easy one for Manny Pacquiao. However, the Filipino pride thinks that they should
not underestimate Timothy Bradley. Even Bob Arum has said that Bradley is a young fighter who has not taken much beating in his career, which is why he can be a danger sign for Manny Pacquiao.
This fight is as important for Pacquiao as for Bradley. Pacquiao needs to prove that he still is the pound for pound king, whereas Bradley needs to prove that he can take on superstars like Pacquiao in the future as well by grabbing a victory.
