Freddie Roach is confident about Pacquiao beating Marquez – Boxing News
Hall of Famer trainer Freddie Roach is confident that his fighter Manny Pacquiao will beat Juan Manuel Marquez in a dominant manner this time. Pacquiao and Marquez are set to face each other on December 8 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
“Manny's focused this time,” said Roach. “He's cleared a lot of the bad stuff out of his life [marital issues, ownership of a nightclub and a c**k farm, etc., both of which he sold]. He even wrote me a note about this fight. It said, 'I've got to knock him
out.'”
This will be the fourth time Pacquiao will step in the ring against Marquez. The Filipino has already won two out of three fights against the Mexican fighter, yet he feels the need of a knockout victory. Marquez is the only fighter Pacquiao has not been
able to dominate, probably because he is an amazing counter puncher.
“For three training camps, we worked on Manny staying away from Marquez's tough straight right hand. He never failed to do it right in training, and then, in three fights, he kept walking right into it. For some reason, Marquez dictates the direction Manny
moves,” added Roach.
For now, Pacquiao has already promised fans a knockout victory over Marquez. According to the Filipino former WBO champion, he needs to erase doubts that fans have over him when it comes to Marquez.
Pacquiao won the second fight against Marquez via unanimous decision and the third one via majority decision. The first encounter between the two ended up in a tie. The last fight, which was held last year, was considerably a very close one, making most
fans believe Marquez had won the show. It was the very first time fans booed Pacquiao when he was declared the winner.
Both fighters now want to end the saga once and for all, and they both are training to knock out the other. The fight has already sold almost all tickets and it is being tagged as the most happening fight of 2012. If Pacquiao wins, he will not only add an
important win to his portfolio but will also help Roach get a win after four consecutive losses from his fighters.
