Freddie Roach is not sure of Pacquiao’s future – Boxing News
The world of boxing always has surprises for fans, whether it is Ali being knocked out by Frazier or Hatton being knocked out by Pacquiao. There is always an element of surprise whenever two elite fighters face each other. Probably, December 8 came with
the biggest surprise of the decade, when the Pac-man had to stay on the mat the same way his opponents did most of the time.
Pacquiao did not attend the post fight conference, as he was taken to a trauma centre to examine his condition. The Filipino did not have any brain damage, as per the CT scan reports. However, Freddie Roach, Pacquiao’s trainer, asserted that he is not sure
of Pacquiao’s future for now.
According to Roach, it is up to Pacquiao to decide what he needs to do but if he sees any signs of deterioration, he will not let the Pac-man do it anymore.
“I thought we controlled the fight and were close to getting Marquez out of there but we got a little careless and Manny got hit with a two inch punch,” he said.
“If he decides to fight again and we get in the gym and he looks good, we’ll go on. If I see signs of deterioration, we’ll stopIt was by design and it wasn’t a lucky punch. I was surprised to see him pull it off considering how hurt he was, but he did,”
added the Hall of Famer coach,” Roach added when asked if the former WBO champion will continue boxing.
For now, Pacquiao has wished his fans Merry Christmas and has asserted that he will be back soon. On the other hand, Marque refused to speak about his plans, saying he is still not sure about what he wants. According to the Mexican, right now he wants to
celebrate as it happened the same way he always dreamt of.
The fight that ended with Pacquiao’s knockout is now being considered the best one of this year. A short six-round fight yet full of excitement is hardly ever viewed by boxing fans but Pacquiao and Marquez made sure to give it to them.
