Freddie Roach plans to make small adjustments in Manny Pacquiao’s boxing style – Boxing news
Veteran trainer Freddie Roach has revealed he is going to make small adjustments in the boxing style of the eight-division world champion and the current World Boxing Organisation Welterweight World Champion (Super Champion), Manny Pacquiao.
Roach plans to make these changes in order to prepare Pacquiao for his mega-fight against the Mexican rival Juan Manuel Marquez.
The Fighting Pride of Philippines, Manny ‘Pac-Man’ Pacquiao, is set to take on the Dinamita, Juan Manuel Marquez, for the third time in a much-anticipated bout on November 12, 2011 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Roach wants his fighter to be
at his best before he enters the ring.
Roach believes Marquez, who has won 53 of his 59 professional fights (1 Draw), with 39 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, is one of the best boxers of the world. Therefore, he wants Pacquiao to be prepared for it.
Roach stated many people think that Marquez perhaps is not good with his jabs but it is not true at all. The coach insisted Pacquiao, who is currently in Baguio City for the first leg of his training, will start changing his style in a week.
“I will have to make a very small adjustment in his style of fighting,” Roach told PhilBoxing.com. “That's a wrong notion. I told him that was wrong and what he was doing was wrong. I had to change his style a little and we will continue to change it this
week.”
“I had to tell him Marquez is a good jabber. He is one of the best jabbers in boxing today,” Roach added.
Pacquiao, who holds a record of winning 53 of his 58 professional fights (2 Draws), with 38 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, first met Marquez at the same MGM arena back in 2004 and their bout ended up in a controversial draw.
Their second meeting came at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas and Pacquiao secured a split decision victory in it. However, it was yet another controversial ending. Therefore, this third bout is certainly going to be another huge fight.
