Freddie Roach reveals Pacquiao’s camp does not want him to spar with Amir Khan – Boxing news
Freddie Roach, who is currently the trainer of eight-division world champion, Manny Pacquiao, and the currently unified World Boxing Association Super and International Boxing Federation Light Welterweight Champion, Amir Khan, has said that someone from
Pacquiao’s camp has told him not to let Khan spar with Pacquiao.
Roach, who is also known as the Master Roach, in his interview insisted Pacquiao’s people believe he is running out of opponents and therefore they are setting their sights on a potential Pacquiao versus Khan bout. As a result, they do not want Pacquiao
to spar with Khan.
While speaking on his inclusion, Roach said in his interview on Youtube, “Manny's running out of opponents - Manny vs. Amir would sell. Somebody asked me not to let them spar for that reason.”
The Bolton’s finest, Khan, who is more commonly known as King Khan, has made it clear to the media many times that he will never fight Pacquiao as he considers Pacquiao as family. However, this revelation from Freddie Roach has made a lot of people to think
about a Pacquiao-Khan fight.
The Fighting Pride of Philippines, Manny ‘Pac-Man’ Pacquiao, the current World Boxing Organisation Welterweight World Champion, is scheduled to take on the Mexican Dinamita, Juan Manuel Marquez in their much-anticipated trilogy on November 12, 2011 at the
MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
However, if Pacquiao beats Marquez he will not have many options in front of him as he has been turned down from the undefeated American legend, Mayweather, who is a five-division world champion and currently the World Boxing Council World Welterweight Champion.
The 24-year old Khan, who will defend his titles against Lamont Peterson on December 10, 2011 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington D.C, on the same note has plans to move up to the 147-pound division soon. Therefore, there might be
a possibility of a Pacquiao versus Khan fight but let’s see how Khan responds to it.
