Freddie Roach says Manny Pacquiao will fight Timothy Bradley if Mayweather says no – Boxing news
Freddie Roach, who is the trainer of the eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao and the currently unified World Boxing Association Super and International Boxing Federation Light Welterweight Champion Amir Khan, reckons if Floyd ‘Pretty Boy’ Mayweather
does not come to the table, then Manny Pacquiao will have no other option except to take on Timothy Bradley.
The 51-year-old Roach, who is more commonly known as Master Roach, stated he still has no idea if Mayweather, who is a five-division world champion and the current World Boxing Council World Welterweight Champion, will fight Pacquiao or not. Therefore Bradley
could be Pacquiao’s next opponent.
“Everyone still hopes that the fight is out there with Mayweather, I'm sure. I'd rather see Mayweather against Manny than Tim Bradley against Manny. But is Pacquiao-Mayweather going to happen? We just have no idea,” Roach told Ringtv.com.
“I guess if Floyd Mayweather doesn't come to the table, then that is all we've got, Tim Bradley,” he added.
Roach in the end claimed Pacquiao will knockout Bradley, if a fight between him and Pacquiao takes place. He said Bradley has been able to get away with Khan but he will be knocked out by Pacquiao.
“Bradley obviously has to look good on this show, but they’re putting him in against an opponent that he should look good against,” Roach said. “Tim Bradley ducked one of my guys, Amir Khan, and he would get knocked out by my other guy, Manny Pacquiao.”
The Fighting Pride of Philippines, Manny ‘Pac-Man’ Pacquiao, is set to take on the Mexican Dinamita, Juan Manuel Marquez, in their much-anticipated trilogy bout on November 12, 2011 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Bradley will be fighting on
Pacquiao’s undercard. Therefore, there are bright chances of a Bradley-Pacquiao fight.
The Pacquiao-Mayweather bout is something which people desperately want to see. Therefore, let’s hope Mayweather, who wants Pacquiao to undergo Olympic-style drug testing, somehow agrees to sign a contract with Pacquiao, as their fight will certainly be
an absolute classic.
