Freddie Roach says he wants Manny Pacquiao to knockout Juan Manuel Marquez – Boxing news
Freddie Roach, who is the trainer of eight-division world champion and the current World Boxing Organisation Welterweight World Champion (Super Champion) Manny Pacquiao, has insisted he wants his fighter to knockout Juan Manuel Marquez, as the Master Roach
wants Pacquiao to close Marquez’s chapter forever.
“Everything in Manny Pacquiao’s life is because of boxing. And he knows that,” said Roach during an HBO documentary. “I want Manny to knock this guy out and shut him up. Close the book on this.”
Marquez’s long-time trainer and confidant, Ignacio Beristain, in the meanwhile also shared his thought on his fighter’s upcoming highly-anticipated bout. Beristain said he is happy Marquez is taking on a well-trained fighter instead of a wild cat.
“We are really glad, because we are going up against a fighter whose punches are well thrown,” said Beristain. “It’s easier than taking on a wildcat.”
In the meantime, the Fighting Pride of Philippines, Manny ‘Pac-Man’ Pacquiao, who is currently rated as the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world, also shared his thoughts. Pacquiao claimed his third fight with Marquez will be an explosive one and people
will love it.
Pacquiao said, “I think he's still the same. I'm just doing my job and trying my best...The third fight is going to be a good fight; a lot of boxing because we know each other...”
Pacquiao and the Mexican Dinamita, Marquez, will lock horns on November 12, 2011 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada and there is no doubt that their fight will be an explosive one after what happened in their last two meetings.
Pacquiao and Marquez, who is the current World Boxing Association (Super), World Boxing Organisation and The Ring Lightweight World Champion, first met each other back in May 2004 and their bout ended up in a highly controversial draw.
Their second meeting which was held four years later in March 2008 also had a similar story. This time Pacquiao was awarded a split decision over Marquez.
Therefore, it is fair to say that their upcoming trilogy fight will have all the hallmarks of being an absolute classic. However, let’s see if Pacquiao can once again win against Marquez because Marquez has desperately waited three years for this opportunity.
