Freddie Roach yawns at Shane Mosley-Manny Pacquiao
Freddie Roach is wondering “who cares” about the prospect of a bout between Manny Pacquiao and “Sugar” Shane Mosley.
Mosley is one of three fighters currently being shuffled around as a potential opponent for Pacquiao in his next bout.
At the top of most insiders’ lists remains Floyd Mayweather Jr., who has yet to say anything at all about a Pacquiao fight, which is universally believed to be required to further Mayweather's boxing reputation.
Mosley and WBC welterweight king Andre Berto are the other two options for Pacquiao, with Mosley taking the lead due to his marketability and dense resume.
Roach, however, seriously doubts the entertainment value and basic interest of a bout between his prizefight Pacquiao and Mosley: “Shane is a great guy and stuff like that, but if you look at his last fight [against Sergio Mora], it wasn't too exciting.
I mean it's the same result [as Margarito],” Roach told boxingscene.com
“Who cares [about fighting Mosley]?  I mean really, who cares? We don't take anyone lightly. Make a deal and get us an opponent and we'll get ready for anybody,” Roach said.
Mosley is coming off a sleeper of a fight against Sergio Mora in September.  The fight, which was arranged as an HBO pay-pay-view, ended up being a complete failure in terms of entertainment value, with even ring announcers such as Harold Lederman insulting
the competition value.
Both competitors seemed far too respectful of each other, with Mora doubly so, forcing Mosley to engage him awkwardly and without excitement.
But Mosley, never one to devalue his talents, recently told boxingscene.com: “I would definitely cause a lot of problems for him [Pacquiao]. I'm tall, I have long arms. I have good power. He's very hittable and that's what makes it such a great fight [between
him and I]. He's got a lot of speed and power, and I have a lot of speed and power as well.”
