Freddie Rodriguez eyeing his fourth victory at the US Pro Road Championships
The three-time winner of US Pro Road Racing Championships, Freddie Rodriguez is optimistic to represent his side for the fourth time at the coming race.
The event is scheduled in Greenville, South Carolina and the former champion is warming up for the 2012 edition of the race.
While commenting on the coming race he told Cyclingnews, “I'm going into (nationals) with a very positive attitude coming out of the Tour of California”.
Which was very good for me because the harder the racing is the better”.
“The competition is going to be hard. There are a lot of guys who want the jersey, but I'm not nervous about it. I've won three of them already, so I have a good feeling,” he concluded.
He noted that the 185 kilometre track suits his capabilities and he is familiar with the parcours of the race.
Freddie also cited that he prefers the Philadelphia course but his deep understanding of the race gives him an edge over the race favourites.
“The Greenville course, basically it's all about getting over that last climb with the front group, and then it's a little bit up in the air because there are so many attacks,” Rodriguez added.
Fred started his professional pursuit with Team Saturn in 1998 and has represented numerous teams during his extensive career.
He signed Team Mapei-Quick Step (1999-2000), Team Domo-Farm Frites-Latexco (2001-02), Team Vini Caldirola-So.di (2003) and accepted an offer from Team Acqua & Sapone for the 2004 season.
He signed a deal with Team Davitamon-Lotto throughout 2005-07 and accepted an offer from Team Rock Racing for 2008-09 seasons before finally signing with Team Exergy in 2011.
Rodriguez has not yet opened his 2012 winning account and is determined to find his winning ways at the coming edition of the American race.
The 38-year-old succeeded during the 2000, 2001 and 2004 editions of the US National Road Championships and is determined to continue his winning momentum for the coming edition of the race.
Only time will tell, if Fred continuous his dominance for the fourth time at 2012 version of the American National Road Championships.
