Freddie Sears seals Scunthorpe United loan move
West Ham United striker Freddie Sears has completed a one-month loan deal to Championship side Scunthorpe United.
The 20-year-old will now have the chance to play some competitive football after failing to make it into Avram Grant's first team plans at the East London club. Sears also had loan spells at Crystal Palace
and Coventry City last season.
"It feels good to be here. I got a phone call on Sunday night saying that Scunthorpe wanted to take me.
As soon as I heard they were interested I wanted to come down and get going really.
The Championship is a good league to be in, I'm just looking forward to starting my time with Scunthorpe," said the forward.
This move should aid Sears' game in a number of ways. Scunthorpe now has the benefit of being able to play one of the most gifted young strikers in the country.
A good move all round
Sears is never going to improve unless he plays more first team competitive games. He still has a lot to learn about football and this move will allow him to build on his
experience.
He has to physically develop as a player and grow bigger and stronger. Defenders in the top divisions of English football are stronger and tougher than ever before and
being at Scunthorpe will allow Sears to improve on his match fitness.
The move is good news for the club because Sears is not a bad player. He has a lot of pace and is most effective when he drops off from a main striker and plays in the
pockets of space in front of a defence.
"He's a lad who first came to our attention a few years ago when he burst on to the scene with West Ham.
We were presented with the chance to bring him in and we're delighted to have him on board. He's come through the ranks and scored a goal on his debut for West Ham," said Irons boss Ian Baraclough.
Betting advice
Sears is a very talented forward who is capable of scoring in any match at any time for any team. Back him to succeed with Scunthorpe United.
