Freddie’s disappointing training session with Manny Pacquiao “Pac-Man”
Manny Pacquiao will be in the boxing ring with Antonio Margarito for the vacant World Boxing Corporation Super Welterweight World Title on Saturday, November 13, 2010. With the winning of the fight, the winner will be the owner of the eighth weight class,
the light middleweight, or the super welterweight division.
Pacquiao is a Filipino professional boxer and politician. He is a seven-division world champion, the first boxer in history to win nine world titles in seven different weight divisions. While on the other hand his opponent, Antonio Margarito is a Mexican/American
professional boxer. He is also a former World Boxing Association, International Boxing Federation, and World Boxing Organization Welterweight champion.
To acquire the desired title, Pacquiao is into a training session with the trainer Freddie Roach “Master Roach.” Roach is one of the best boxing trainers in the World and the Boxing Writers Association of America elected him as the Trainer of the Year. Beside
all his expertise in training, he seems to be struggling to handle Pacquiao, who is providing him with a tough time in the training session.
Roach seems to be dissatisfied with Pacquiao the “Fighting Pride of the Philippines.” The energy level, of Pacquiao, his diversion in camp with basketball, long drives, and Pacquiao’s problems with sparring partners are the main source of irritation for
his trainer, Roach.
Roach “The Choir Boy”, said that he had a very bad training camp because of the disparity of Pacquiao and also a six hour drive to Manila every Sunday along with six hour drive every day is totally not suitable for a boxer during the training camp.
Besides distractions from the camp, getting old and putting on weight are other issues of concern for Roach. Pacquiao is required to give his best output in the training as Margarito is a competitor rather than any permissible junior middleweight boxer to
provide him with an opportunity of winning the title.
The opponent Margarito had a great training session with his master trainer, Roberto Garcia. “Tijuana's Tornado”, Margarito sparred twelve rounds at the Oxnard Boxing Academy in Oxnard, California. The trainer seems to be very glad with the training session
as he said that Margarito is just five or six pounds above the 150-pound catch weight. A Margarita’s win will give him his second weight division crown.
Both of the great boxers are ready to take off. Right now, Pacquiao’s fight has become the source of income “cash cow” of boxing and he is the one that is extracting the most interest of any other fighter. His fight already set a record of generating the
highest revenues.
In case of Pacquiao’s loss, Home Box Office (HBO) could lose “Tens of millions of dollars”. In this manner, it would not be wrong to say that he is like the “Babe Ruth of boxing.” Ruth put base ball on the map in the 1920s.
Pacquiao has a very awesome and inspiring boxing career, but on the other hand, by looking into his distraction from the training session of a great battle ahead, the statements about his future attraction towards politics seems to be very true. Anyways
the thing is like this that whatever is going on in the mind of Pacquiao, he has to take the decision of either carrying on with boxing or politics. His non-serious attitude towards boxing seemed to be hurting his fans.
The disappointing statement of Roach is a wakeup call for “The Destroyer”, Pacquiao. Wake up Pacquiao. Roach is talking to you, who else can he talk to?
