Freddy Krueger slashes his way onto Mortal Kombat, Black Cat meows her way onto Spider-Man: Edge of Time
Two completely different games with two completely different characters are making headlines in the world of video games.
Starting things off with the more gruesome, gory and violent of the two, as Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, the studio behind Mortal Kombat 9 revealed that Freddy Krueger will be a downloadable character in an upcoming Downloadable Content Pack.
It seems NetherRealm Studios, the developer behind the outrageous, yet satisfyingly’ violent game have incorporated Elm Street into the Mortal Kombat universe as the Krueger is making his way into the game in all his burnt-flesh glory.
The trailer set things up very nicely as it not only shows Scorpion, Sub-Zero and Kano waiting for a new character, before Krueger appears, but it also shows off a number of his moves as well as some viciously exciting Fatalities.
It seems the undead burn victim who haunts nightmares, finishes opponents off by dragging into h**l and burning them to a crisp. Which is epic in almost every way imaginable, as Mortal Kombat fans can finally send Shao Kahn where he belongs, in the fiery
pits of h**l.
The DLC is due out in just under three weeks time, on the 9th of August and will be haunting the dreams of PlayStation 3s, Xbox 360s and PCs when it becomes available for download.
However, it leaves one wondering if Jason could be on his way in the next DLC? It sure sounds more promising than the dreadfully disappointing Freddy Vs Jason film.
Jumping from claws to webs, as it seems Spider-Man is set to have another character join him his latest game.
Black Cat has been confirmed to be a part of Spider-Man’s time travelling adventure, as the drop-dead gorgeous character appeared in a trailer for the game.
The trailer gave away plenty about the plot of Spider-Man: Edge of Time, as Activision seems to be upping the marketing for the game as it nears it release. The publisher could not have chosen a better place to do so, as the trailer was revealed at the on-going
Comic-Con in San Diego.
The game sees Spider-Man and his futuristic counterpart, Spider-Man 2099; join forces to prevent themselves from their paradoxical death. Walker Sloan, a scientist sets off a series of events when he travels through time, which will result in Anti-Venom
killing Peter Parker.
Players will be able to play as both Spider-Mans (somehow Spider-Men did not seem appropriate) as they look to keep one of the most popular comic book heroes alive.
The game is due out in a couple of months, though one can rest assured that by the end of Comic-Con, there will be plenty more to share about Spiderman.
