The Corsica-based tactician finds club’s current position to be satisfactory following a tightly-contested encounter with FC Girondins de Bordeaux, where his side dealt a 2-0 defeat at the Route de Lorient. Antonetti believes that the club has been
performing well this season, as they’re 5th in Ligue 1
Stade Rennais coach, Frederic Antonetti hits out at the press, stating that the club is performing impressively and shrugs off rumours that the club is lacking clinicality. The response came in during a post-match press conference during the Ligue 1 fixture,
in which the Rennes-based club suffered a defeat at the hands of FC Girondins de Bordeaux.
The talented tactician ruled out reports claiming that the club lacked what it takes to compete at such level. The coach highlighted the fact that Les Rouge-et-Noirs are one of the biggest clubs in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899, and possess one of the finest football academies
in the world. He stated:
“We're not lacking anything, it's you journalists saying that. We're the eighth biggest French club so you're completely wrong when it comes to Stade Rennais.”
The former OGC Nice coach believes that playing against a side like Les Grondins is always a difficult game. The game was tightly-contested fixture for both of the sides. However, Bordeaux came up eventual winners, with goals from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Yoan-Gouffran-c37412 and Henri
Saivet. While speaking about the match, the 51-year-old said:
“We can't compete over the duration with Bordeaux. We're very close, but we never manage to make the breakthrough and I find that exasperating.”
Antonetti acknowledged that the Rennes’ current position is definitely surprising, as the club doesn’t have what it takes to achieve such a position in the club. However, the Ligue 1 outfit has been a revelation this season thanks to the induction of talented
young players in the squad. The coach is afraid that several of the players might move away to play for other clubs in different leagues, such as the English Premier League.
The French tactician explained the situation while talking to the press, saying:
“It's already good to be so high up because we don't have the means to be in this position. That's something you shouldn't say but I'm going to say it. The bottom club in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 is going to sign one of our best players. Stop placing us among the favourites.
Fifth is extraordinary.”
