The Stade Rennais coach feels that his side should have won the match against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Toulouse-FC-c40751, but is pleased with his players’ efforts nonetheless
A magical goal from Toulouse goalkeeper, Ali Ahamada, denied Rennes a hard fought victory at Stadium Municipal on Saturday.
And Les Rouges et Noirs coach, Frederic Antonetti, believes that Les Pitchouns were lucky to score an equalizer in the dying moments of the game.
While talking to reporters after the match, the 51-year-old praised his players for their tireless and impressive performance against Alain Casanova’s side. The coach said that his players played really well in the game and it’s sad to see them not winning
in the end.
“My players carried themselves well and they would have deserved the win tonight.”
Stade Rennes haven’t started the 2012/2013 Ligue 1 campaign well, and with just four points after six games, they are in the relegation zone. And Antonetti knows that his side need to step up in order to get out of this situation.
“We're in a tough spot at the moment and we need to hunker down. We lacked confidence at the end of the match, but that's logical in our situation.”
The 51-year-old added that Rennes lacked confidence that allowed Toulouse to get back in the game.
However, the coach is pleased with the way his players approached the game. The former Nice coach said that Les Rouges et Noirs played with great determination and it was a much improved performance from his side.
“We need to keep up the good work we saw tonight; what counts is how you perform on the pitch.”
Frederic Antonetti has urged his players to keep improving and is optimistic about his side’s chances this season. The coach added that every team faces tough times but believes that Rennes will soon hit top gear.
“I hope our morale hasn't run out, because that's the most important thing; we need it to have the extra energy to fight even harder. I know this, I've been through some pretty tough seasons."
Stade Rennais host LOSC Lille this Friday in their next game of the 2012/2013 Ligue 1 campaign.
