The Rennes coach is pleased with Saturday’s win against Paris Saint-Germain and is hoping that the victory will act as a turning point for Les Rouges et Noirs’ season
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Stade-Rennais-FC-c40612 registered their 7th win of the season, beating the cash-laden club from Paris 2-1 at Parc des Princes on Saturday. It was an eye-catching performance from the visitors and despite being reduced to nine men, SRFC managed to cling
on the lead and deservedly claimed all three points in the end.
Rennes coach, Frederic Antonetti is a happy man in town and has termed his side’s performance as fantastic. While talking to reporters after the match, the 51-year-old heaped praise on his players and believes that the win has lifted everyone’s spirits at
the club.
The coach said that it was one of the toughest matches of the season and Rennes did brilliantly to claim all three points against a team like Paris Saint-Germain.
"The players have been heroic and fantastic in what were extreme conditions. It is a win for everyone at the club.”
Talking about Stade Rennais’ poor start to the 2012/2013 Ligue 1 campaign, Antonetti said that his side didn’t perform well in the opening few games of the season and many players weren’t fully fit at that time. However, the coach feels that Rennes have
found the winning formula and is expecting more such performances from SRFC in the future.
“We have often been criticised for a lack of character but we fronted up against an excellent team. I don't want to dwell on the events but we are all for good refereeing, I do not want to add to it, I just want to savour the win.”
The 51-year-old is hoping that the win over PSG will kick-start his side’s season and is expecting more improvement from his players. The coach added that there are still plenty of matches left in the league and Rennes need to be more consistent to achieve
their targets this season.
“If possible this win must act as a starting point for our season. It means nothing to win here if we then go and mess up elsewhere."
