The Rennes-based club managed a victory after a series of two winless games in the Championnat. The coach, Frederic Antonetti,
is pleased with the team’s performance, as he praised his players for their effort.
Antonetti acknowledged the difficulties the team had to face while coming in to the game. The coach believes that the congested schedule of recent fixtures turned out to be a real problem for the French outfit. Fatigue was a major concern for the team with
several players struggling to maintain their fitness. The Corsican-based tactician explained:
“For our third game in six days, and with tired bodies, we started well, but we should have put the game to bed sooner.”
The former OGC Nice manager feels that the team exhibited lacklustre performance during the second-half of the game, which proved to be a real problem for the Rennes-based side. However, the coach was content following the players' effort as they showed
real character. The 51-year-old said:
“When we eased off the pressing, we started to have problems against what is a really good side. But our key players showed up. They gave everything and were brave. “
The Frenchman stated that he is proud of his young squad, following a series of consistent performances by Les Rouge-et-Noirs. The coach went on to praise his squad whom he finds to perform well, no matter what the circumstances turn out to be.
The French side has shown off their heroics on numerous occasions, with the victory against Paris Saint-Germain among them. Antonetti has full faith in his players as he said:
“We know we still have progress to make and that other teams out there are superior to us, but we are there and are hanging on. The team has shown a great attitude regardless of the circumstances. I know I can count on these guys.”
