Since joining Stade Rennais from Paris Saint-Germain Turkish international Mevlut Erdinç’s performances have stepped down a notch. However, Frederic Antonetti is not worried about that
In the January transfer window, Stade Rennais signed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Turkey-c3026 international Mevlut Erdinç from Paris Saint-Germain. The striker arrived at the Breton club as a player who had not played much football in the first half of the season.
Under the radar of Rennais for a long time, the Turkish striker showed why Frederic Antonetti was so keen on securing his services when he scored two goals in his first three games. However since then, the striker has laid down his hat and is looking far
from the striker that Antonetti was expecting.
Author of two goals in six Ligue 1 games for Rennais, Erdinç knows that he has to be more effective. A loan striker in the game system implemented by Frederic Antonetti, the Turk can rely on the confidence of his coach who is willing to be patient with the
striker.
While talking to L’Equipe, Antonetti said that everyone needs to be patient with Erdinç as the player hadn’t played much before arriving at Rennais. Antonetti also added that Erdinç needs time to adapt to the club.
“Mev will return to his best in small steps. He is still being integrated. He must adapt to our group. He needs a little more time and clicks but the qualities and desire are there, so I have no worries,” said Antonetti while talking to L’Equipe.
Erdinç’s teammate, Julien Feret is also confident that the player will return to his best soon. The 29-year-old has asked media and fans to not to judge the player so soon.
“Do not judge him in two months. He might be experiencing the backlash of today’s late arrival. The level of his game is not quite there yet but he gives a lot. I have not forgotten his goals against Sochaux and Lille. He really was into his role.”
Certainly, Erdinç would feel good to know that two important people at the club are at his side. However, the Turk should be looking to return to his goalscoring best in order to avoid negative comments from the media.
