The Stade Rennais coach has praised the attitude of his players after Les Rouges et Noirs advanced to the semi-finals of Coupe de la Ligue on the expense of ESTAC Troyes on Thursday
Rennes didn’t disappoint their supporters with an assured performance at Route de Lorient to book their place in the semi-finals of Coupe de la Ligue. The win has pleased coach, Frederic Antonetti, to great extent and the Frenchman believes that Rennes were
the better side on the pitch and they deserved to win.
Antonetti was talking to reporters after the match and when asked about his team’s performance, the coach had nothing but praise for his players. The boss said that Rennes started the match really well and should have scored more goals in order to make things
easier for them.
The 51-year-old added that it’s been a while since Stade Rennais started a game in such good manner and it’s a good sign for the club.
"We got the job done, we made things difficult for ourselves even though we'd got off to the perfect start; it's been a long time since we started a game that well.”
However, Troyes reacted well to that and made life difficult for Les Rouges et Noirs on the pitch. The coach feels that Rennes should have done better but they lowered their guards instead, and ESTAC took full advantage of that.
“We could have widened the gap but I don't understand why we lost our shape instead. We took our foot off the gas and left ourselves vulnerable against a side that were pushing hard.”
Antonetti added that it was a great cup match in every aspect and there were a lot of chances for both sides. While many believe that Rennes were unconvincing out there, the coach doesn’t agree to that and feels that his side did well to stay in front and
they got the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 done in the end, which is the most important thing.
“It was a true cup match with lots of chances. Not so reassuring? I'm at Rennes: when you lose it's not reassuring, and not when you win either.”
