The 46-year-old has expressed his delight at his side’s comfortable victory against FC Metz in Coupe de la Ligue
I Turchini were in complete control of the game from the very start as they crushed the third division team 3-0, at Stade Armand Cesari on Tuesday.
Bastia, who are currently 15th in the Ligue 1, looked in great form and comfortably won the game, sealing their place in the next round of the competition.
And coach, Frederic Hantz, is pleased with his side’s eye catching performance on Tuesday. While talking to reporters, the Frenchman stated that his players played with great attitude and losing was never an option.
Pleasing factor for the coach was the aggressive game SC Bastia played. Hantz said that scoring three goals against any side is never an easy task, and I Lioni di Furiani have done that for the first time this season.
Apart from that, the clean sheet has pleased the coach to some extent, who feels that his side needs to strengthen their defence if they want to survive in Ligue 1.
“We reassured ourselves tonight, we scored three goals and, above all, for the first time this season, we kept a clean sheet.”
Hantz added that even though it wasn’t a Ligue 1 game, a win is always pleasing and it has lifted players’ morale.
“That win did us good! And even though there weren't championship points on offer, it's great to get a win.”
The former Nice coach said that playing against FC Metz was not an easy task, and the visitors played really well.
“You might have thought it would be easy playing a side from the third division, but three years ago we were in the third division and we beat Sochaux in Sochaux.”
After registering a win in Coupe de la Ligue, Frederic Hantz has asked his players to play with same confidence in Ligue 1.
“This win is the best way to get back on track, and I hope it’s the start we were looking for.”
SC Bastia face OGC Nice on September 29, in their next game of the 2012/2013 Ligue 1 campaign.
