Frederik Nielsen wants to enjoy every single second at the ATP World Tour Finals – Tennis News
Denmark’s Fredrik Nielsen is enjoying his time at the ATP World Tour Finals so much that he is planning not to sleep, so that he can avail every single second to have fun during this tournament.
Nielsen made his debut at the season ending championships with his doubles partner, Jonathan Marray of Great Britain. The British-Danish duo is extremely happy because they are playing a tournament, which every single player on
the planet dreams to take part in but only top eight singles players and doubles teams make it there.
After beating fifth seeded Indian team of Mahesh Bhupathi and Rohan Bopanna in the first round robin match at the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals, Nielsen shared that it’s a huge experience for him and his partner and they want
to enjoy every moment of it.
The Danish player said, “This is probably the most exclusive tennis tournament there is in the world, certainly didn't believe I would ever take part. It's a massive experience. It's indescribable how cool it is to be a part of
as a player. I think Johnny is the same, we're trying to make the most of every minute. Like I told a lot of the other guys, I'm considering not sleeping just to get it all in.”
At the start of this season, these two had not even imagined that they would play this elite tournament. Coming together for the first time, Nielsen and Marray received a wild card entry in the main draw of the Wimbledon Championships.
They made one upset after another, toppling some of the best teams in the world to clinch the title at SW19.
That achievement earned them 2000 ATP Ranking points and they jumped in the top-20 doubles team in the world, qualifying for the season finale.
Nielsen plans to go back to smaller tournaments to play singles events from next season but before that he wants to have fun here.
He said, “When I'm playing my singles tournament that nobody gives a rat's a**e about, I'm sure it's going to be back to reality.”
Marray is looking for a near partner for in 2013 and he has even placed an ad through ATP to find one.
